Producer Details:Douglas is one of Maria Caceres’ sons, making him part of the fourth generation of coffee growers in his family. His mother, Maria, was inspired to start a coffee plantation after noticing how well the crop thrived in her region and recognizing its potential for generating income. Over the years, her passion for coffee farming has deepened, as it not only supports her family financially, but also connects her to a tradition that she has passed down to her six children.
Like his mother and siblings, Douglas has continued the family tradition and hopes to improve and expand his coffee production. He has worked alongside his mother and siblings in coffee farming for over 13 years, and over time, their shared passion for coffee has grown. Although his biggest challenges include finding a suitable market that pays a fair price for their coffee and dealing with pests that sometimes attack the crop, his goal is to continue improving the farming processes on the and he now manages, so he can successfully export their coffee.
2025 is the first year that Douglas is exporting coffee under his own name as part of the Sueños de Semilla project. He feels excited and hopeful about the future and dreams that one day his family can directly export their coffee to roasters and consumers abroad.
